6 Sign that you are an adult

John C. Maxwell once said: “The best day of our lives is when we take full responsibility for our attitudes. That's how we grow up."

Society always has certain standards to judge the level of maturity of people. A person is considered mature when he has a successful career, a happy family, and a stable financial situation… However, have we ever wondered: Am I happy? If yes, why do I always feel anxious and tired? Why do I have to go through so many breakups and divorces? In fact, we are only maturing in terms of age, but we do not really understand ourselves. Here are 6 signs that you are an adult.

1. YOU ALWAYS LISTEN TO OTHERS

Listening is an art. People who know how to listen will know when they should be quiet to hear what others have to say. When you are a good listener, you will be completely focused on the other person's story instead of paying attention to the things around you. You don't judge them or be influenced by age. You respect the other person's point of view and only speak up when they have finished the story. This is a sign that you are mature because you can only give accurate, honest answers when you listen wholeheartedly to the other person.

2. YOU ARE PATIENT

Along with the development of technology, the faster pace of life makes us always want everything to be under control. However, the older you get, the more you realize that you can't control all the unexpected situations that happen in your life. You gradually learn to accept the truth, patiently waiting for the results of your efforts . You no longer feel restless, anxious because you know that it will only mess things up and not help the current situation.

3. YOU ACCEPT THAT THINGS WILL CHANGE

Life is always changing and most of us find it difficult to cope with the fluctuations of society. As you grow older, you realize that things don't always go your way. There will always be the unforeseeable and if we don't learn to adapt, we will miss out on the best things in life. That doesn't mean you can't dream or have plans for the future. It is important that you know and accept that your plan may not be as successful as expected. You gradually give up the thought of wanting a stable life and become calmer in the face of unexpected situations.

4. YOU NO LONGER EXPECT TOO MUCH

When you accept the fact that life is always changing, you will stop placing your hopes on others or anything around you. You no longer feel hurt if you don't reciprocate, you don't feel so bad when someone you love hurts you, you don't complain about why other people do unethical things. Life's upheavals and other people's reactions no longer affect your mood. It is a sign that you are gradually maturing with time.

5. YOU UNDERSTAND MORE DEEPLY ABOUT LOVE

People have to go through a lot of hurt and brokenness at a young age to understand the true meaning of love. As you mature, love is no longer a need but a choice. You cherish your partner, avoiding temptations that affect your relationship. Times of pain and misunderstanding have taught you how to adjust your relationship so that you don't get hurt. You understand that, to maintain love requires commitment from both sides, sympathy, understanding and mutual respect.

6. YOU DON'T SEE YOURSELF AS THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE

As you grow up, you realize that the world doesn't revolve around you. You just need to be yourself, know your strengths, weaknesses, limits and no longer cling to things you don't like. You accept your mistakes and optimistically move on with what you have in hand. Whether others trust you or not, love you or not, it doesn't matter because you are capable of seeing yourself instead of seeking evaluation from others.
